Since 1990, Handling Services has helped industrial customers solve demanding material handling challenges with engineered equipment, experienced installation, and dependable service. What began as a small company has grown into a family-owned operation serving customers throughout the United States.

More Than 35 Years of Getting the Job Done.
Handling Services began in 1990 when Steve Ellison and Ernest Ballard started the company as co-owners. A few years later, Steve acquired full ownership, establishing Handling Services as a family-owned business built around practical experience, strong relationships, and a commitment to doing the work right.
Today, the next generation continues that work. Matthew Ellison and Stephanie Ellison Hovanec oversee the daily operations of Handling Services, supporting customers with the same hands-on approach while expanding the company’s capabilities across material handling, fabrication, installation, inspection, maintenance, and service.

Handling Services Is Founded
Steve Ellison and Ernest Ballard establish Handling Services as co-owners, beginning the company’s work in industrial material handling.
2007
A Family-Owned Company
Steve Ellison acquires full ownership of Handling Services, establishing the family-owned company that continues today.

Leadership Continues
Matthew Ellison and Stephanie Ellison Hovanec take responsibility for the company’s day-to-day operations, carrying the family business forward.

Fabrication Under Our Own Roof
Top-running and under-running cranes are assembled at Handling Services’ Greenville facility, where the team also fabricates overhead cranes and support steel for material handling applications.

HSI’s installation and maintenance crews bring years of field experience, while technicians have completed extensive crane inspection and certification training.
